tournament Information

Competition for girls begins with the two-day state tournament, and the top two 36-hole scorers are invited to the national tournament (all permitted expenses are paid by IIANC). (There are no regional qualifying tournaments for the girls state tournament.) Winners in each age division are recognized with awards at the state tournament. The overall tournament winner receives the Peggy Kirk Bell trophy.

Girls may choose to play in a boys division regional tournament in order to gain tournament experience and practice, however they are not considered part of the field of competition and do not receive trophies. If a girl participates in a regional tournament, she must still register and pay appropriate fees for the state tournament, at which she is guaranteed acceptance (space permitting).

Girls should call the Pine Needles Golf Club and make a tee time for their practice round the week prior to the tournament, which is included in the state registration fee (tee times are first come-first reserved, space permitting).

Age Brackets: The girls state tournament has two age divisions: 14-and-under and 15-18 as of August 9, 2018. Play is from the forward tees for both age divisions at all levels. A tie for first place and runners-up in any age division will be decided by a sudden death play-off beginning on Hole #1 immediately upon completion of the final round.
